Becky’s Dog Retreat & Spa / FAQs
Thoughtful Care Begins With Clear Expectations
Every policy has one purpose: to help us provide a safe, peaceful and personalized experience for every dog in our care.
Because we operate differently from a traditional boarding facility or busy grooming salon, a few simple guidelines help us maintain the private experience our families value.
Boarding
Do you require a Meet & Greet?
Yes. New dogs complete one before their first boarding stay; reservations are approved afterward
What are your vaccination & preventive care requirements?
Dogs staying with us must be current on required vaccinations and flea and tick prevention. Vaccination records may be requested before your dog’s stay.
If fleas or ticks are discovered, we reserve the right to take appropriate steps to protect the home and other dogs in our care.
What are your temperament & behavior requirements?
For everyone’s safety, dogs staying with us must be non-aggressive toward people. Please tell us about any behavioral concerns, separation anxiety, fears, sensitivities or history of attempting to escape.
Separation anxiety does not automatically prevent a dog from staying with us. We simply need to understand your dog’s needs before their stay. Complete and honest information helps us provide the safest care possible.
How are dogs supervised?
Dogs staying at Becky’s are never left unattended indoors or outdoors. Outdoor play and access around our saltwater swimming pool are always supervised. Pool access is based on the individual dog’s comfort, ability and safety.
Can you give my dog medications?
We are happy to administer routine oral or topical medications when clear instructions are provided. Please bring all medication in its original container with written dosage and administration instructions. Special medication needs should be discussed with us before booking.
How do drop-off & pick-up work?
Drop-off and pick-up are scheduled within an agreed two-hour appointment window. Our normal hours are from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
We understand that travel doesn’t always go according to plan, so please contact us as soon as possible if your schedule changes. An unexpected additional overnight stay will be charged as an additional boarding day.
Is a deposit required for new clients?
A 50% deposit is required to secure a new client’s boarding reservation. Your reservation is confirmed once the required deposit has been received.
What is your boarding cancellation policy?
We understand that plans sometimes change. If a boarding reservation is canceled less than five days before the scheduled stay, a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the total reservation may apply.
Do you charge extra for holiday stays?
An additional $10 per night applies to designated holiday stays. Holiday availability is especially limited, so advance reservations are strongly recommended.
Where will my dog sleep?
Wherever possible, we try to maintain the routine your dog knows at home. If your dog normally sleeps in their own bed, bring it. If they’re accustomed to sleeping near people, we’ll discuss that with you. If your dog is crate-trained and prefers the security of a crate, we can accommodate that as well.
Our goal is not to suddenly change your dog’s lifestyle simply because you’re traveling. We want their stay to feel familiar, comfortable and safe.
What should I bring for a boarding stay?
Please bring your dog’s food (separated or clearly portioned by meal), medications and instructions if applicable, treats, favorite toys, their bed or blanket if desired, feeding and care instructions, and anything else that helps your dog feel at home.
You do not need to bring a crate unless you prefer to. We have one available if your dog is accustomed to using one.
Grooming
How are grooming appointments scheduled?
Grooming is available by appointment only. Because Becky schedules appointments individually and works one-on-one with each dog, appointment times are reserved specifically for your pet.
How do you handle coat condition & matting?
Every dog’s coat is different. Additional charges may apply when excessive matting, coat condition or other circumstances require substantially more grooming time.
When significant matting is present, your dog’s comfort and safety will always take priority over preserving coat length.
What if fleas, ticks or a skin condition are found?
If fleas, ticks or a concerning skin condition are discovered, the grooming service may be stopped or postponed. We may recommend that your dog be evaluated or treated by your veterinarian before grooming resumes. This protects your dog as well as our grooming environment.
Health & Safety
Health & Safety
What happens in a veterinary emergency?
Your dog’s health and safety come first. If we believe a dog in our care requires urgent veterinary attention, Becky’s Dog Retreat & Spa reserves the right to seek appropriate veterinary or emergency medical care when we believe it is necessary for the dog’s health or safety.
We will make reasonable efforts to contact the owner or designated emergency contact. However, the ability to reach the owner does not prevent us from seeking emergency veterinary care when we believe delaying treatment could place the dog at risk.
Emergency veterinary authorization and contact information are required before boarding.
Our Commitment to You
Safety. Comfort. Trust. Personal attention.
Policies are important, but they are only one part of the relationship. We want you to feel comfortable asking questions, telling us about your dog’s needs and communicating with us openly.
The more we know about your dog, the better we can care for them. That’s what these policies are designed to protect.
Still Have Questions?
We’d love to hear from you. Tell us a little about your dog and how we can help.
